4) Hometown Hard News

Image
When saying the words, "I am from Pine Bluff, Arkansas" it is normal to get a reaction of disgust. Pine Bluff has a reputation for being a place one does not go at night or at all but that is my hometown. I am not proud of Pine Bluff and at times am terrified living there but deep down I have a love for it. Back a few years ago, Pine Bluff was on a list of most dangerous metro cities in the US. (  Pine Bluff Metro Crime  ) Before that, it was on America's top five most dangerous cities so either it's getting better or everywhere else is just getting much worse. Where I live, I can drive downtown and can almost guarantee that gunshots and sirens will be heard. If that is the case, you will most likely hear about it later on Deltaplex news.     My mom was actually driving home from work the other day and saw police surrounding an apartment  complex. She called me immediately to check Deltaplex and sure enough the stor...

Anna McGough Professor Reppert MM 2003 Breaking News Over a 24-Hour Period     News seems to be a fickle thing, especially in our day and age. With all the social media that we have, it is easy for something to become news quickly and be considered old news just as fast. Platforms such as "X" (Twitter) is used to share news and spread it quickly. Being a person who has only had "X" for a few weeks, I was surprised as to how many news stories I heard about on there in one day that I would not have heard about otherwise. These are just a few "breaking news", stories I saw over a 24-hour period of time.        This story is big enough I may have been able to hear about it on other platforms but was able to catch it on "X" first. My dad actually spends some of his time on sites like "x" and Gab. He had sent this to me earlier in the day. He tries to keep us up to date on the news and current events by sending us posts and links he...
